0.2 degrees celsius for me, so should be 0.1 degrees fahrenheit.

Perhaps my math chops are rusty, but isn't this backwards. I would expect the offset measured in Celsius to be smaller than that measured in Fahrenheit.

S1/1F...costs 2.1K! :(
...so GS3/0.1F should have costed 21K!
...cause we're in 21 Ce.....

0.1 degrees Celsius should be something like 0.18 degrees Fahrenheit!

No your math is fine. My excuse is that I jumped over from the accounting profession a year ago into marketing (with all due respect to Marketers out there) so MY math's a bit rusty.

I believe when I fiddled around between Celcius and Fahrenheit when I first took possession, that the increment on my unit WAS +/- 0.3F.

To your original question, perhaps in newer units, that degree of control has been improved to 0.1F. However, if that were the case, would that mean that the celcius could be tuned to +/- 0.05C? For me, the display would show something like 90.25C, then 90.30C, then 90.35C, etc. I doubt it. If that WERE the case though, they could perhaps use this as a selling point to justify the new price increase.

A Fed Ex truck just made delivery here of a LM GS3. The box is over 130 pounds; that's a bit more than expected, what is in there? Should make for an interesting weekend.

I spent three hours playing with my new GS3 at Cafe Pronto and tweaking the settings. They will deliver and install it Tuesday.

Initial impressions -- very consistent shots, nice mouth feel, nice flavor. Microfoam is much easier to achieve. We traded shots with an FB/80, same beans, same grinder, couldn't tell the shots apart. With my Giotto I had slipped into the bad habit of holding the wet cloth in my palm over the end of the steam wand while I purged the wand. It gets uncomforatbly warm after 4-5 seconds. Without thinking I did the same with the GS3 and the steam blasted through the wet cloth like it wasn't there. Note to self when skin heals -- this is a different animal.

Can't wait until Tuesday! :D

See if you can't get a standard Marzocco four hole steam tip. I'm getting much better results with it then the three holed version they shipped with the GS3. The holes are smaller on the four hole version and seem to produce a finer, less grainy microfoam. I also turned my steam pressure up to 2.1 bar. It depletes down to about 1.7 bar within a couple of seconds but allows a bit better stretching results. Enjoy your new machine!

Is the steam tip you're mentioning one of these? http://www.espressoparts.com/cate....03.025.steamtips/

Wow, I hadn't checked out the current line up of tips. It seems the prices have really gone up. I got my tip through my distributer and I think it's the MZ_208. I also have the acorn tip and have gotten really good results with that but I don't like the non-seamless design. Both seem to produce less bubbly micro foam compared to the stock tip. With prices having gone up, maybe it's better to get the acorn tip until somebody does a definitive shootout amongst all the tips. Personally, that Mistral tip is looking really attractive. I should note that on my "MZ_208" the holes appear smaller then they do in the picture on espresso parts, perhaps I can post a picture later today.. showing all three.
