La Marzocco GS3 Disappointment - Page 13

Postby houdina on Sun Sep 16, 2007 7:58 pm

There are two one-way valves on the hot water mixing block. The one-ways look like brass nut on the block with an arrow on the edge. It sounds like the one on the front side of the block (facing the barista) which goes from the block to the pump is stuck open. If you are handy you can unscrew the line from the pump and then unscrew the one-way out of the block and see if something is stuck in it and can be cleared.

There's a another thread that Jacob posted some pics of the GS3 insides here
In these pics it looks like there are a couple checks. I would look at one coming out of the steam tank fill solenoid(blue coiled wire), and another possible one which looks like it's going into the flow meter(with the white coiled wire on it)

As houdina says, the checks should have some sort of arrow indicating direction on the valve side

Thank you both for your very clear explanations and the link to the pictures. That all makes very good sense. As it is under warranty I'd best not pull it apart myself. I spoke to Allpress this morning and they are going to see if they have a machine that they can now replace it with.

Many thanks for all your help.

Will the GS3 turn out to be the Edsel of 2007?

could your comment be related to the fact that there are only a hundred days (or so) remaining in 2007?

Hi Rosemary,

I was wondering if you ever managed to get a successful outcome?
