La Marzocco GS/3 refill warning when tank is full?

Postby misterdoggy on Sat Dec 31, 2011 10:53 am

Hello All,

Looked on all the posts and didn't see my answer so...

its been a while since i have posted and 2 years plus since I bought the GS3. I have been having a problem with a leaky vapor wand so I knew it was time to change the gaskets with the kit offered. So I have been powering off my machine everyday waiting for the parts.

Today I went to power on and the REFILL warning came on even though the tank was full. I tried grounding the 2 contacts with a piece of aluminum foil at the machine side where there are 2 springs, but this did not fool the motherboard into thinking it was full. This led me to think that there is a problem with the motherboard. I had recently gone to extra lengths to waterproof the motherboard, but hey, its almost impossible to stop condensation possibly building up inside.

Before pulling the machine apart, or driving to Florence with it (I live 4 hours away) might anyone have any suggestions or had a similar situation.

thanks
Bruce

Any chance your water is too pure and isn't being recognized? Toss a pinch of salt in to the water and see. Might be a quick fix.

changed the water and it did not change.

Note: before when it was out of water it would just say "refill" and this time around it flashes after some seconds between the temp and regular setting and then refill and back. Makes me think its more to do with the motherboard being damp.

I am away until later in the month when I will try this solution. Its either false contact there, or motherboard problem (moisture maybe) if not it will be beyond my knowledge and I will throw it in the trunk and drive to Florence with the machine.
