I know I'm cross posting, but for those of you who don't frequent CG and have GS/3's, I wrote some upgrade instructions for flashing the firmware in the control board.
While it doesn't really matter to me (at least not yet), is there a chance you could write a sentence or two about the advantages of "flashing the firmware"?
The link you provided is, perhaps, one of the most well written "posts" I have seen in a long time.
From what I heard from Franke, these are the changes/fixes since the prior 1.12 version:
The heating elements how have a little indicator in the display to show when they're on.
You can now rename the machine and not have to use "L" as the first letter. It used to be stuck as the L from La Marzocco.
Shots using the continuous button can now be pulled up to 50 seconds. Previously the limit from the continuous button was 40 seconds.
The button sensitivity has been increased due to complaints.
There is now a suhweet cleaning cycle that will turn the pump on and off about 7 or so times, with pauses between. Makes backflushing pretty sweeeet.
You can tell your friends "oh, had a few beers, ate some steak, and upgraded the firmware on my espresso machine" when they asked what you did this weekend.
