It is exciting when things are almost finished. I put a lot of time/blood/sweat and tears into my Faema two group rebuild. Once I finished I stood back looking at that big polished and freshly powder coater monster with a huge sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Then I stood there staring at it thinking, now where the hell am I going to put this monster. It is as big as my kitchen cabinets.

The wife was also quite puzzled when I put it on the bar in the kitchen. She though I was going to leave it hooked up in the garage. Silly girl...

Glad to hear it's almost done!

Just got the replacement tube today! :D Very busy for the next couple of days but hope to get everything back together over the weekend and to be pulling shots as well. Will take pictures of machine and post when done.

Thanks again for taking a look

Just as a overall note, That is a standard LCD module. I looked at the board and the pin outs a bit closer from Movnmik's pictures and can tell you that a bog standard LCD display will swap directly in, or with a minor adapter shifting the 2x8 to a more standard 1x14 pin header any current LCD will be a drop in replacement.

That is good since you can pick these up at my local electronics store for less than $5 USD if that is a part that fails.

The problem then becomes finding one that fits the opening correctly. Somehow that size opening never quite got a standard established. So they could be off by a few mills either way. I would suggest just hunting around as the electronics behind them will be the same with some +/- the back lighting option.

You could do white on blue, or standard black on green. Either way adding a trim pot to the 5V line will drive the back light. That is the only difference from the 16 and 14 pin versions.

Got the bodywork on this beast! It looks so much better than when I got her! I decided to forgo the hours of hand polishing the ss and had it electropolished. This process gave it a nice luster but not a clear deep shine. Any deep scratches or defects are still present. Once my basement is completed I may decide to have the ss hand polished by a pro. Not sure though.

I still have to figure out the LCD panel but the machine doesn't need it to operate. There are some pictures that show its conspicuous absence.

On to the pictures.

This is my work area. Not the most attractive but gets the job done. Yes, that is a bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee. My wife actually prefers it more than the stuff I home roast. I also used this coffee for the "shot" I prepared for one of the videos

Here is the La Spaz Rapid EK. I really like this machine. It heats up much quicker than the La Cimbali but certainly not as refined even though the Cimbali is 6 years older

Here are the links for the two videos. Please excuse the poor camera work.

Linc,

It was a long journey (still not completely there but enough to close that chapter). Also, thanks for the heads-up on the videos. I corrected the issue.
