That makes sense, but clarify something for me....are the folks on this forum that have dismantled and rebuilt similar machines trained technicians? An honest question...I really don't know.

Sorry, I didn't ask. Based on the discussions I've read, most if not all of the restoration projects were undertaken by those with considerable DIY skills and years of practical experience with espresso machine maintenance. I don't recall any opening with statements like this:

I am new to this, so technical terms will only confuse. I do not have a manual, so when you are referring to particular parts, a picture or description of location with help a lot!

My apologies...I mis-interpreted the title of the web-site. By all accounts, it appears I should put this thing back together and take it to a service/repair shop.
