La Cimbali "Cimbalina"

Postby elavats on Sat Nov 05, 2011 12:02 pm

Hi all!

I guess if there is an upside to having my cherished espresso machine break it's finding a site like this with other coffee fanatics!

Here is the problem. I have an old "Cimbalina" circa 1985 and am looking for a small rubber gasket that fits around the small filter that the espresso basket locks into. I don't know the correct part names, hope this is descriptive enough. Anyway, the gasket broke and without it coffee sprays all over the place and the machine is not of much use. I have found a few sites that sell parts for Cimbali machines but not the Cimbalina, so I'm not sure if gaskets I'm looking at will fit my machine. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

I've included a photo of the machine below.

What you are looking for is called a "group head gasket," a very common part. Take some measurements (in millimeters) and contact Doug & Barb at Orphan Espresso (orphanespresso.com). They are THE go to source for vintage equipment. With some luck, they should be able to hook you up with the correct part.

No one has mentioned this yet so I will.

Has anyone seen one of these before?

It is supposed to be a Cimbalina from 1973.

Interesting...
