Izzo Alex MKII + no power (both lights off) - Page 2

As you requested, here's my follow-up post. (And thanks for the concern for a stranger's welfare :) Fortunately, I had a chance to cut my teeth on power electronics in a supervised setting during my undergraduate engineering labs.. with that background, I felt comfortable making changes to my machine. (The last one I did was swapping the relatively short-lived relay with an SSR).

I ordered the part that I linked above (and a spare) from Digikey, and it was a simple drop-in replacement with identical specs to the original. No BANG no DEAD :>

I was looking at this thread because of my ECM Giotto. It is a very old one with an 18 volt transformer inside a Giemme control box. After MANY hours I was able to locate exactly what I needed. Forget about Myrra. . . They do not respond to inquiries, nor does Farnell carry the proper parts.

Mouser Electronics in Texas carries Pulse brand EI-30 transformers. EI-30 is the "style" that fits ("4 pins") the footprint on your circuit board. Phone # 1800 346 6873.

http://www.mouser.com/
Mouser puts a "673" in front of the Pulse part #. But even if you enter the pulse part # it will come up in the Mouser search.

BTW the parts are at the end of their Lifecycle (End of Life: Scheduled for obsolescence and will be discontinued by the supplier.), so you may want to order 2 or 3?

In case you have to source the part yourself from Pulse Electronics. . . Follow these steps:

http://www.pulseelectronics.com/
Click on "Power" then click on "50/60Hz Encapsulated Transformers" then refine your search.
"Check" the box "EI-30" under the heading "Platform Type - 50/60Hz Xfrm".
As well as "115" (not 2x115 as this will not fit onto the circuit Board. . . too many pins) under heading "Input Voltage Range".
Where it has a field that says "Search within Box", enter "12v" and press ok.
This should show a list of 6 transformers. The only differences being the Output Voltage/Current: (VA) and the height (in mm) of each.
Pulse Part Number 030-7294-0 is a 2VA, 4 pin, 24.4mm(or .961 inch) high transformer.
Pulse Part Number 030-7330-0 is a 2.3 VA, 4 pin, 29.6mm (or 1.17 inch. Just over 1 1/8") high transformer.
Part Number 030-7330-0 may be pushing the height limit but it should fit.

If you are looking for the 18v version from Mouser, the part number is 673-030-7153-0.

I am assuming that the EI-30 is an industry standard as far as footprint and electrical connections are concerned.
