Allow me to jump in here... Although my new Izzo is not a Duetto but one of the "New" Alex II (HX machines) the case I believe is the same. Just received week ago Monday (6/13).

My top cover doesn't seem to have the same curvature to it the case does and fits a little more snug at the center apex but not as bad as the pictures posted earlier.

I am able to remove and replace the top without much trouble and will have it plumbed in about a month so I'm living with the (to me) minor fitment issues. I'm a bit of a perfectionist as well I would be happier if the person that fitted the gauges got them straight and not slight rotationally off but that as well is minor to me. If I ever have occasion to pull the cover off I'll probably straighten the gauges.

If I could make better espresso I'd be happier too.

I do wish the gauges didn't have any branding logos on them. That kinda irks me. IMO, that makes them look toy-ish.

Anyone know how to drain the boiler before shipment?

Could anyone who has opened their machine and had a look inside tell me whether the boilers are completely level? In my machine (several years old), both boilers lean back noticeably, and I've always wondered if it's right.

Well shipped her back today. Cost me $180 to ship two boxes. One with the Duetto and $2500 declared value and the other box was the outer shell that didn't fit that Mary sent me. I about died with that cost.

Mine are level.

My cappuccinos are fantastic now. Best ever for me since I have my Duetto. My family is enjoying them too and I'm having a ball getting better extracting.

Sorry for slowrey having to return his machine. Hope it turns out OK for you.

To answer your question- I have a new machine and both boilers are not level. They also have a slight lean towards the back of the machine. I don't think it would affect function as it seems to work just fine.

Well after getting home and being irked that the cost was $180 my wife checked FedEx Ground and they were substantially cheaper. Thus she went back and picked up the packages from UPS and took them to FedEx. It cut the cost by $40!
