Isomac Zaffiro & higher brew pressure

Postby cai42 on Tue Dec 28, 2010 7:53 pm

Greetings,

The pressure dial on my Zaffiro has been between nine and ten. When it came back from the repair shop it now runs between ten and eleven and the espresso has never tasted/looked this good. Does the Zaffiro need this higher pressure as compared to other machines?

Thanks,

Cliff

My zaffiro works also at pressures around 11  . I think this is normal but I would like to see what other owners say about it.
ps I' m not sure, I think I read somewhere that when the pressure gauge signs for example 11bars (boiler's pressure), that doesn't necessary means that the shot comes out at this pressure, but in a lower pressure... or something like that

Greetings Dimitris,

That's good news. I guess we are the only two Zaffiro users in the world based on the number of responses to my question.

Thanks,

Cliff

Whats up guys, I just saw this thread and thought I'd add my input as well. I recently started using my Zaffiro again and noticed as well that my brew pressure was at 11 bars. I use a naked portafilter and can't help but admire the thick, goopy crema that comes out. The shots are great! In fact, once I get the boiler leak in my La Marzocco Linea fixed, I am going to do a side by side comparison, since the shots from my Linea are not as thick-looking as this!!

Is there any Zaffiro owner who tried different/lower pressure settings from the factory settings? As I've noticed most of us have 10.5-11B as factory pressure.

It's true, there don't seem to be many Zaffiro users around. I got excited when I saw the post title!

My Zaffiro came to me adjusted to 11.5 or 12 bar, and I had no luck pulling any kind of drinkable shot until I adjusted the OPV down. It's now reading 9.5, and I'm doing much better. I have improved my technique a lot since trading up to the Zaffiro, so maybe it's worth experimenting a little now...

Ive had a zaffiro and it is a fantastic machine, but its single boiler has limitations. I noticed when i had mine the pressure was set very high. When I was pulling shots it would spritz the wall until I turned the pressure down. Otherwise the combo of a single boiler with great thermal stability and preinfusion of the E61 makes it a great espresso pulling machine that is pretty forgiving.

Hi,

I lowered the pressure. Very easy to do. Google it, there's pictures of that little valve you have to open, that is turn to the left, or loosen it. And i turned it half or a full turn, and it dropped to 9 or 10 bar and it works great. Of course, now it's leaking, but I've yet to open it up to see what that's all about.

here's a link I used for info

another for pics.

good luck. easy to do!
