Isomac Rituale leak at pump outlet - Page 2

Postby OntKrut on Sat Sep 25, 2010 3:29 pm

I have been away from home since late August, before the Isomac factory opened up after August shutdown. However, the on-line store from which I purchased the unit got a replacement pump from Isomac and shipped it to my home, under warranty. They said it is with the plastic outlet tube--Isomac does not carry the one with the brass tube--and I hope it has the 90-degree fitting installed. I will be back home in about 2 weeks, then I can see what I got and dive into the replacement project. Good luck with your problem.

I returned home to find the new pump from Isomac waiting for me--with a plastic outlet tube and without the ell, unfortunately.

I decided to try to make the old pump assembly leak-free first. After removing the pump I unscrewed the ell and cleaned the threads on both the ell and the pump snout. It turns out that the snout does not rotate freely, on either the old or the new pump, and the ell has to be positioned so that it lines up with the stainless steel hose. This means that there will be no seal against the face of the spring retainer cage, unless the cage is positioned just so, and the ell threads must be the only seal.

It took 4 layers of teflon tape to make what felt like a good seal when screwing in the ell by hand. After checking the seal by operating the machine with the pump outside of the machine, I reinstalled the pump inside the machine and put the covers back on. So far it is operating with no leak, but I have my fingers crossed.

Thanks again, Eric and Ian, for your help.
