So your wand didn't fit straight away? You had to file it down? Interesting!

That is odd. Kind of like getting a new car and the tires don't fit unless you cut off a lug. Interesting.

Other people have reported a tight fit, but I'm the first one who actually needed a grinder AFAIK. Probably a good thing that I was the one who got this assembly (in order not to have to do without my machine I have done all the fixes and upgrades myself)! All except the new steam wand were done under warranty.

My machine is now 17 months old and is working better than ever.
I have not regretted choosing the GS/3

Nice job either way, Jacob.

Is the new pump/motor put in with the motor mounting bolts not as tight as originally shipped from LM? I've been meaning to get into mine and loosen them up to quiet the machine down, but haven't decided if it will make a difference yet.

Only the pump is new - I'm pretty glad I didn't had to remove the motor! - I did loosen the mounts, but the new pump is more quiet and vibrates less that the faulty one so I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes. I'll leave it like this and I'm probably not going to reinstall the plastic pieces again.

Good to know. I am getting a bit tired of my demitasse's rattling like there's no tomorrow. I've heard/seen that shim that goes under the pump, and have also heard of loosening the pump mounts. Both are said to provide good results, it's just getting in there to loosen those mounts that sounds daunting!

Great thread!
I bought my GS3 in Dec. I thought the rattling issues had been taken care of by this time, but I have a lot of rattling/vibration issues. I have taken the sides off and checked just about everything but can not find why I'm getting the rattlling/vibration. I assume its the pump. Is the pump support the answer? Or would the procon pump be the answer. My last machine was an Astra Gourmet--it had a procon pump and was very quiet and vibration-free. BTW, I installed the new steam wand and love it. I can get great microfoam for latte art even with skim milk for my wife's lattes.
