Instructions Needed to Replace La Marzocco GS/3 No-Burn Steam Wand with Burn-Me Wand

Postby AndyinTexas on Fri Jan 15, 2010 9:00 pm

Old no-burn wand broke under warranty and LM USA at my request kindly replaced it with the burn-me wand.

Chris Coffee's web site says that when they sell the new burn-me wand, they include written instructions and photos for each step.

Would appreciate someone posting the same or similar information. Replacement operation starts (I hope) tomorrow.

Thanks!

Andy, I've made you a PDF of the scans of the instructions I got from Chris' Coffee and sent them to you. I can't guarantee they're up to date, but they worked for me. I am not posting this document publicly as I'm not sure that's kosher, but anyone that wants it is welcome to get in touch with me.

Thanks. I had no idea how much I needed them.

Best.

This advice may be unneeded or too late, but it's really easy to cross-thread or strip the small brass screws! My wand is now held in by one. I did enough damage that I can't even get a steel screw into the other hole.

MUCH better steamed milk, though, so I'm happy with the new wand.

I do not have any affiliation with Chris Coffee but I do know that instructions such as those you reference were created by Chris and/or his staff. You are correct to not post them publicly as the publicity and distribution rights to that intellectual property belong to Chris Coffee. Many years ago I mistakenly posted Chris's install and operation instructions for the Isomac Tea (which I had purchased from him.) He requested that I take down that post and explained his rationale - which I understood. That's not to say that perhaps he might feel differently about the steam wand instructions but it would be appropriate to get a yay or nay form him first.

Chris has a publicly available video that shows the replacement:
