Iberital 1GR - Bring it back to life! - Page 2

Skipped doing the whole citric acid thing forever and took the advice of others in my other post asking about extremely heavy build up....muriatic acid! Unfortunately I did not want to pull the element since the gasket can apparently only be ordered from europe, but there was no choice. The boiler is now shiny inside and out, ready for a new gasket and to be put back together.

I figure since I am ordering one thing from Europe, I might as well get the manometer as well. Eunasa.com has the parts at great prices 2.75 Euro for the gasket and 31.77 Euro for the gauge, but I think they are a wholesaler. I emailed them so lets hope for the best or its back to square one on the parts. As for the shower screen and grouphead gasket, I found them locally for $2.52 for the gasket and $3.50 for the screen. Can't get much cheaper than that, even when including taxes.

My next steps are to put the whole thing back together, sans element, and wait on parts. Oh how I hate the waiting game..

You could find suitable gasket material and try to cut your own...

Nice job. Good call on removing the element.

Hi Ryan,
I bought identical machine last night.
Thank you for sharing information about sources for parts, I am sure that I will need them once I start rebuild.
Is your machine operational?
Regards,
Miroslav

I spent the last month putting things away from a move so its been sitting on the floor :( Yesterday I hooked it up to a bottle system with a BW4000 Flojet and got things going again.

For parts, I managed to get in contact with Iberital USA as I needed a gauge ($72) and picked up a few boiler gaskets at the same time (~$3). None of the Euro companies actually responded to my emails so I gave them another try. The gasket I made is working just fine so I have a few backups just in case. I broke the sight glass while trying to get it out of its seating since it was leaking like crazy (alot of mineral build up). I ended up at my espresso parts shop where they helped me match up a glass that was pretty close to the same size but had a different scale. Not a huge deal for me so I just turned it sideways and it looks stock. From there I hit up the hardware store for some o-rings to seal it around the assembly which worked great.

I'll try and post an image here of it all setup later today. Its been fun getting this machine back up and running, now on to the bigger project....Faema No-Stop
