It's now back up for $3K OBO. Someone's greedy!Randy G. wrote:I just missed out on a La San Marco, two group, copper-body lever machine. Said it needed some work, but looked complete including two portafilters... He said he was using it in his cafe, but updated his equipment. I e-mailed the guy, he never got back to me, and two days later the ad was pulled.
The worst of it... he was asking $175.00

I think that is a different seller. The images are different (taken with a better camera). It could be that this is the person who bought it for $175.00, threw in a new heating element, put a coat of "pledge" on it, and is looking to make a boat payment.

That'd be my guess Randy. Nice machine, but $3 large? It's not that nice. Fat profit if he can pull it off.

My question is this... Why would anyone want to ban themselves from craigslist??? Im just careful not to look too closely when the funds are down. Although, I have been known to make an exception!

Hi my name is John and...ah...I'm an addict. Hehehe. It is amazing though sometimes what you can find!! I found my Pavoni on CL just down the street from where I work and for the low price of 75 buck all it needed was a good descale job!!
I also saw this beauty in San Diego:
Elektra Sixties 2-group restoration project!
But couldn't justify the 8 hr drive that would result in committing myself to a year+ project! That one was had for a steal, but what rough shape!!
Sometimes I do wonder where/how/why do people have seemingly such random stuff. I guess a lot of cafe/restaurant turnover... Well it makes the hunt worth it!!
P.S. I'd have to say the 11th Commandment is pretty great, but I would add/make a caveat to it: Never pay more than what you can sell it for!! Long live the Addiction!!
