Help identifying Angeli Inox espresso machine type

Hello,

Since i now have my new Rocket Evoluzione set up, i was cleaning my old machine to put it in storage as a backup.

While i was cleaning it, i figured i'd open it up to have a look at the internals. I was surprised by the cheapness of the actual hardware. I got this machine from my brother in law a long time ago (gave it to me, bless his heart) but i know it still currently sells for about 375$ canadian at Faema in Montreal.

I can see the vibe pump that's mounted on two rubber straps and this pump feeds that big brass round thing (it's brass since the descaler comes out green). I assume that cannot be a boiler, it's size tells me it could not hold more than 1 cup of water. The brew head is right under it. It does feed both the wand and the brew head...

I always thought this was a single boiler dual purpose unit. Am i mistaken? Is it a thermoblock or something else?

Correct; the two button type thermostats are clearly visible (blue), one for the brew temperature, the other for steam temperature.

The rubber straps holding the pump are relatively common. The rubber mounts isolate the pump vibration from the frame to reduce noise.

It's the equivalent of an early Nemox Fenice or Imat Junior. 270mm brass boiler, presumably 57mm portafilter (but may be 53mm), thermal fuse instead of resettable thermostat. The interesting thing is the lack of an OPV, you wouldn't want to choke the flow too often.

I'd look at replacing the "steam" switch too, note the discoloration of the connector.

Thanks for the feedback, i didn't realize boilers could be that small. It's got a 53mm group by the way.

I may get new connectors for it, the ones on there are quite dried out and fragile.

cheers
