I've received a new old Sama Lusso from an old HB to restore. I tested the heating element, and it reads around 40 ohms with the meter set to 200. It is a 1200 W 220 element. Is 40 ohms a proper reading for a good element? How does one calculate this?

I'm looking forward to getting this machine up and running, when I'll post a little more on it.

yup - exactly right.

watts = Volts squared divided by resistance, so 220x220/40 = 1210

Thanks. I attached a cord filled it and plugged it in. It got hot and built up enough pressure to force water out of the group and various leaky connections, so all is well.

Next up is a good cleaning, a new sightglass, and trying to find or make a new lever arm and yoke.
