GICAR Repair

Postby Zendel on Wed Jan 25, 2012 6:05 pm

Recently my machine stopped working because the GICAR went bad. A board member, Ira, was able to fix it for a fraction of the cost of a new one. I had no idea that such a repair was possible and wanted to spread the word. If anyone else has a GICAR that has stopped working contact Ira before buying a new one. He saved me a couple hundred bucks.

Good to know! James mentioned in GICAR Controller Repairs? that he can also help:

To answer the second question, the Gicar controller, such as the RL30, functions can be as simple as controlling the autofill which runs the pump and autofill solenoid/inlet valve which allows water to enter the boiler to automatically to maintain a minimum level. Larger more complex units, such as the Gicar 3D5, control many features such as automating the grouphead dispensing times, allowing automated preinfusion, and such things as Tea dispensing. There are many different boxes that are often custom designed for a specific manufacturers application. Some are very generic in application.
