GICAR controller settings

Postby Havequick on Thu Aug 25, 2011 1:24 pm

I have a Gaggia GX and the machine was set up with Illy Pod (single) adapters mounted in the group heads. I can switch between manual dosing, single shot or double shot selecter knob. I have noticed that the double and single selection seems to dose the same volume of water through the flowmeters. Did someone reset the DIP switch settings internal to the controller to make it dummy proof with single pods? I will try to attach a picture of the GICAR internals.

Thanks,
Steven

This looks almost identical to the dosage board in my La Pavoni Pub.

You could try these settings.

Yes, and there are clearly too many gigawatts going to your flux capacitor.

Sorry, couldn't help myself. There are plenty of actual tech geniuses on here who will be along shortly to actually help you.

Thanks for the help. According to my pin settings I should be dosing 50ml on every selection. Do these pin settings vary from flowmeter to flowmeter based on the number on rotations to dose a shot? Also, any signifigance to the terms "On Sg Gicar" accross the top (do some pins perform different functions other than dosing amounts)?

Thanks.

Should be easy enough to verify though. Just pull any empty shot see what you get :)

On my machine the number 1 '100s' dip switch set to on, and all '10s' are off. That yields right around a 30ml shot depending on freshness, grind, and tamp.

I checked my settings, and you're correct. Yours seems to be set to 50ml.

Mine setting give me a 40ml single and an 80ml double without coffee.
