I recently restored a gaggia e90 2 group machine . I cleaned the boiler and hx of all scale . Installed new seals , heating element , pressure stat . I did a test run today and i can only get around 180 f out of the group head . This was after an hr + at idle . The safety valve is hissing and i ran the water level in the boiler in the middle of the gauge . Any ideas on why the low temp ? Is it safe to keep cranking up the pressure to get the correct temp ? or am i just doing something wrong

Get that pressure down.

Check the electrical heating element in the grouphead and/or the thermostat for same in the grouphead. I believe the below pic shows the applicable parts for your machine.

This model does not have a heating element in the heads

Thanks for the correction. Do you have the owner's manual and/or parts manual?

Have you checked the thermosyphon piping for scale buildup?

i think i got it figured out . I had to make a line from the hx to the heads and it ended up being a few inches longer than the original one so i covered it with some insulation and now my temps are right on .
