Faulty valve on the La Cimbali M21 Junior?

Postby hallgrg on Sat May 07, 2011 8:25 pm

I have had my La Cimbali now for 3 years and I absolutely love the machine. I have it constantly on, 24/7 (probably shouldn't) and I only use it for like 2-6 shot's a day.

It is plumbed in so the watersupply is good but I was not able to hook the drain hose up to my sink so I actually just have a small cup under where the hose attaches and that is ok.

Lately I have been having issues with water leaking through the machine and tonight I tore it appart to see if there was anything I could see.

I would love if someone could look at this video and tell me if this is normal:

Thanks for this wonderful forum!

That looks to be your safety valve on your boiler.. Which is clearly leaking. ;-)

You can see a diagram here: http://www.coffeeparts.com/cimbali/cimb...rts-6.html

Usually it's a scale issue. Can you tell if it's leaking from the top or the bottom of the valve ? Turn the machine off, let it cool completely, try and unscrew that safety valve and soak it in citric acid or some descaler.

That should do it
