FAEMA espresso machine does not detect water level

Postby nomoarca on Sun Feb 27, 2011 6:50 pm

Hi! I have a FAEMA commercial espresso machine (DUE Smart), basically what is happening with the espresso machine is that once is turn on and heats, the water level on the front indicator does not stop at the middle where suppose to stop, water level continues almost to the top level indicator's and this is causing that there was enough steam.

I already contact a guy that knows something related espresso machines, but he tell me I need to replace the electronic card, but I am almost sure that this is not reason due to electronic controls work perfectly.

Do you have any idea what needs to be replaced or fixed?

I will really appreciate you help on this matter.

when you say almost to the top , does the auto fill shut off but just too late, or does it not shut off at all? when my faema fill thing went crazy it just wouldn't stop filling, it would fill till the pressure release blew and the water was everywhere.

If its shutting off just too late it might just be coated with crustys. how often do you descale the boiler. You can check the level sensor for gunk, Loosen the nut from the Teflon fitting off all the way, then slowly try to pull the rod straight up, don't break it. Also check the tiny wire for the element end of the sensor, its one of two wires that are grounded to the side of the heating element with a small screw. The big green one is a ground, there is also a smaller wire that's pretty thin and flimsy, that is the wire that goes back to the control board, i would ring out the whole thing with a multimeter if you have access to one.

try measuring the resistance from the top of the probe to the screw on the element, when the boiler is full vs, empty. if there is little to no difference then the probe or the element my be heavily crudified.

If it shuts off eventually, you probably have a crusted level probe. It could also be too short or simply not be pushed in to the proper depth.
