Cleaning a gasket may not solve a leak if the gasket is worn. It may be time to replace. A little DOW 111 on the gaskets can help.
If a solenoid is leaking, it is probably a gasket in the solenoid valve body; when one refers to a "bad solenoid" it is usually the coil that is being described (which would fail to open or close the valve, it wouldn't cause a slow leak).
If a solenoid is leaking, I'd suggest disassembling it and cleaning ip any scale that could be letting water seep past the seals. If that fails, you may be able to replace seals, but unfortunately many (most?) solenoid valves don't have replaceable seals, and need the whole valve body replaced, at which point, you generally replace the whole thing.
Good luck!
