Ira,

That was my mistake. I looked at the wrong box when looking for a manufacturer. It's AKO and the machine is a dual boiler.

Everything I have on your machine is at www.roasterthing.com/downloads/brewtus.zip.

And the link I gave you should be correct. If you're missing the pipe it goes into, I think searching for "thermowell" is either the correct word or close to it. I have a few spare sensors for the AKO box, I can send you one for postage if you contact me in private. I have no thermowells though.

Thanks Eric,

Lots of good info but still doesn't help me find the part I need.

I've found one place that sells the part but it's overseas.

Anyone know where I can get this from a US based online store?

Thanks for all the help guys!

Great info, Ira! and thanks for the offer on the sensor. I think I've found the temp sensor in question and it's pretty cheap

Do you happen to know off hand what size fitting the boiler takes?

The file you posted has a lot of good info that I was missing which I'm sure will come in handy once I get this dang temp sensor installed! 8)

It looks to me like the hole would take a 1/2 inch fitting... so this is what I've found.

Thoughts?

How do you install the sensor in the thermowell so that it stays put?

The hole for your temperature sensor is probably 1/4"-19 BSPP threading. A US NPT thread is 1/4"-18 but just to confirm the size, a simple 1/4" NPT pipe nipple from the local hardware store will screw in a few threads (just as a test).

The temperature sensor and the AKO controller MUST BE MATCHED. More than likely, the temperature sensor is a 50K ohm negative temperature coefficient (NTC) with 1/4" BSPP threading and should look something like this:

To the best of my knowledge, there is no separate thermowell, i.e., the sensor and thermowell are a unit and you need to confirm what temperature sensor the AKO desires.

In the world of Brewtus users, the sensor is normally just pulled out and replaced with the new one and more heatsink goo. Never heard of anyone having to replace the thermowell.

Thanks for the info, Erics.

I'm pretty confident that 1/4 will be much too small but either way I'll run to the hardware store on the way home and buy some fittings to determine hole size.

Unfortunately, none of the "complete" probes i've found in my search for a replacement have a part number or detailed spec sheet making it difficult to buy with confidence. if I keep running into walls then I might have to use a shotgun approach...blarf

I've tried searching for a probe with the specs you mentioned above but haven't been able to easily find one.

Can you share with me where you found these specs? Are controllers typically specced for 1 specific sensor or a range of sensors? I imagine the latter.

I'm wondering if looking up the specific controller will yield an answer on the probe it's meant to be paired with :?: :?: :?:

It's about 90F here and the spare I have measures about 7.75K ohms.
