Expobar Brewtus III - pressure drop during extraction

Setup: Expobar Brewtus III, age 7 years.
My brew pressure is dropping off during the extraction. It sounds like the pump is turning off, only to turn back on after a while. Flow rate is OK, and subjective espresso taste is getting worse.

Brew pressure slowly rises to about 9 bar, and it drops down to 5-6 bar before the pump turns back on, or at least gets louder.

Is this pump failure (as described there Inconsistent brew pressure), or more an OPV related issue?

Do you have the same behaviour if you run the pump with the blind disc in place?
