Estro Profi: Brew Pressure Problem

Postby stillshotprod on Sun Jul 27, 2008 6:48 pm

A local shop owner came to me with this dinky little espresso machine asking if I could get it working.. she's very attractive... how could I say no?

The machine had obviously never been cleaned. So after some stripping and scrubbing and a little rewiring I got that darn thing to run.

However, I still have one problem that I can't seem to find the solution to...

I'm not getting pressure to the group head... noth'n. The wand seems to work okay; it actually was still shooting out steam after the machine was unplugged...?

I'm getting suction out of the main hose and the pressure stat is, or seems to be, running fine. The hose from the stat to the group head isn't getting any flow. It's perfectly clean and there are no kinks.

I just can't freak'n figure it out. :?

Any suggestions?

Are you able to pump hot water out of the steam wand? When you first turn the machine on, open the steam wand valve and use the coffee button to activate the pump (do not activate the steam mode). This should fill the boiler and run water out of the steam wand once the boiler is full. If this works, I would then check the showerscreen and "brew valve" (on an unplugged and cold machine to play it safe) for fouling or a blockage. Then I would check the pump. The pump may be able to move water, but not generate enough pressure.

Richard's link to partsguru is helpful, there are some good PDFs here. This is a helpful link regarding repairing the pump in these machines, here.
