The International Space Station can finally make Espresso. I would imagine that since it is all in closed packet squirted directly into the mouth, there is less oxidation and therefore more freshness.

Friend of mine went to Italy for a vacation. He brought back these single shot espresso cups. They looked like large creamer cups but had espresso in them. You took a mini straw off the side and punched it through the cover like a juice pack. Then drank the espresso out of the little plastic cup. It was kind of bizarre but novel and passable in a pinch.

Thanks for this Posting! They now have some espresso to go with that fine ice cream they take with them, which is also weird stuff

It must be a slow news day for NPR. This was reported last June in Espresso in Space. Eastsideloco, I've merged your thread with the last one on the same subject.

It was launched into orbit this morning, so that is probably why the story is being circulated today. It was also on NPR back when the story first broke.
