EPNW new baskets

Postby Javacat on Wed Jul 20, 2011 2:10 pm

I've had a few days to play around with both the 14g double and the "Synesso style" baskets that EPNW sells, and would HIGHLY recommend them. The larger "Synesso style" basket is nearly identical to the original Synesso 18g, and although the holes are noticeably smaller, I haven't been able to detect any difference in flow rate. The smaller 14g basket has a very unique tapered shape. It compares very closely with the original LM double ridged basket as far as dose and flow-rate. The walls are slightly sloped towards the bottom, which allows a little bit easier tamping. Both baskets comfortable fit a 58mm tamper. They are highly polished and the metal is 2 grams heavier than both the original LM double and the Synesso. Definitely recommended!

the "14g" basket seems to have a neutral dose that is more like 16.5g for most coffees.
just so you know.

and yeah - they're very nice.
