Wow, the Everpure cartridge is really compact. This certainly takes up a lot less space then what I'm currently using. I'm guessing that the 1/2 gallon/min (1.9L/m) flow rate is sufficient for boiler fills and brewing. Certainly something I should consider when the kitchen gets remodeled.

Hi Mark,

remember that this isn't really a softener, it's more like a normal filter. I've made some measurements and the cooled water from the group is around 210ppm TDS and around 70-80ppm of hardness. Not awesome, but tastes better, so it's good.

Hi Nicholas,

I've just measured and the TDS is the same, but the hardness is a bit higher, around 100-110ppm. So it looks like it's softening the water a bit.

You can get Everpure filters that also soften and there is one that can be used as a mixer! Is the head really as easy as it suggests to use? I've spilled my fair share of water in the current cabinets with the more standard filters....

Hi Mark,

well if you can handle drilling two small holes (not even necessary but easier to screw in the screws), attach two screws and hang the cartridge head you shouldn't have problems:) The cartridge simply goes in the head and turns quarter of a turn to secure, the lever is there to stop the water flow, so changing the filter only takes around 30s, you don't even need to shut down any valves on the main supply line.

What is the quoted life on that cart setup? Is it by date or a volume?

Hi Cecil,

I think it's 3,000 gallons (11,355 L), if capacity = life-time:
