ECM Giotto heat up and stop

Postby Bimmer on Sun Oct 11, 2009 10:38 am

Hi guys,

I did some research and have been unlucky so far.

I have a ECM (now rocket) giotto.

Will boil up to 1 bar, stay there for a while, stable and then will stop boiling and goes back to zero. We switch off and then on and once again the cycle will begin.

Anyone as a similar experience and any clue what it could be? the pressurestat?

Thanks a bunch!

Not an expert, Eric, but I can share my experience with my 3 year old Giotto Premium. The same thing was happening to me; I called Espressotec in Vancouver where I purchased it and the salesperson said it was the pressurestat and that I should bring it in for a replacement to an upgraded Sirai. I did so but that didn't solve the problem. Called again and spoke to the actual tech and he said it sounds like the Gicar (control box.) Told me to first try cleaning the contact that inserts into the bottom of the reservoir when in place with fine sand paper; I did that but that didn't help, so off it went for the new Gicar. Now works perfectly.

So, I'm not sure which version you have. Does it have hoses going into the reservoir or does the reservoir just lift out? What I would recommend is finding a good local repair shop and speaking with an actual technician, describing the problem in detail. All machines need components repaired/replaced over time and it just may that your unit is due. Good luck at any rate.

Welcome to the HB forum - let the "search" function be your friend, using the input "ECM Giotto".

Giotto not maintaining boiler pressure
Problem with ECM Giotto pressurestat
Giotto has difficulty coming up to pressure?
It may help from a response standpoint if you provide the date of manufacture and some internal pics. How handy are you with a volt-ohmmeter?
