1. I am a moron.
2. ALWAYS test the machine before pulling it apart - I knew this but couldn't wait for a sparky to hook it up so ripped into it regardless. If I had done this, I would have known it worked before my magic touch.
As soon as the new springs arrived and I pulled the bottom part off the grouphead, I realised I had the bottom two springs around the wrong way. It was only because I could see the new springs at the same time I realised that the lowest of the 3 springs was not in fact the thickest. Must have got them muddled up during cleaning
So, for anyone else ever taking it apart, lightest coil springs at the top moving towards heaviest at the bottom.
Guess that also means I didn't really need new seals after all. Nonetheless, everything is nice and new now and working well.
Will give the RH HX another descale as it was compromise during the last one due to the restriction in the thermosyphon loop, but other than that, its ready to go back together.
D'oh.
