E61 Group Drips/Lever Slips Up - Page 2

The "click" is from the push button switch that activates the pump.

The mating surfaces (4) of the valve pushrods PROBABLY have a spherical surface - tough to see with these dimensions and these eyes :) . The spherical surface encourages a slight rotation which serves to minimize wear on all surfaces.

With the power off if i hold the black pump button in and lift the lever i still get a lever click sound .

Is the lever supposed to make any clicking at all ?

Thanks, WS

I just duplicated your action and had the same click.

It has been 16 mos since i replaced all the isomac tea e-61 springs, valves and levers in the group.

I backflushed my machine yesterday and the machine has developed a drip from the group discharge tube when pulling a shot or when under backflushing pressure.

Do i remove the valves and clean them with oven cleaner or equivalent to remove any coffee residue ? Which of the two lower valves pre-infusion or drain valve would i have to replace if needed ?

Thanks, WS

. . . and clean them with oven cleaner

Yikes! No! Use Joe-Glo, Cafiza, or simply TSP in hot water.

Only if you want to kill yourself. Oven cleaner is very toxic.

The tube in the drip tray is the internal pressure release to keep the pipes from bursting when the water expands under heat up or if you have some kind of OPV fail and pump excessive pressure into the hydraulic system of the machine. The spring in the emergency release valve may be dirty or weakening but a little drip now and then is normal. Get some JoeGlo and backflush your machine around once a week.

Which one is the emergency release valve, is that the short valve and short spring at the bottom of the discharge tube ?

I backflush w/cafiza 3 times a month, eveything has been working fine with no drips while brewing or backflushing until after yesterdays backflush session.

Now when i pull a shot or use the blindfilter i get steady drips and the pressure drops to about 8 bar from 10.

Thanks, WS

Your drain valve is leaking - see illustration on Page 1.
