I have been enjoying this machine very much since setting it up.

It has officially replaced my T1 as my daily driver and I was considering options for drainage. I already have an existing drain setup from the T1 but the drip tray on the 700 machine does not have a hole or fittings.

The tray appears to have a similar, if not, identical indentation as the one seen here http://www.1st-line.com/store/pc/ECM-Ge ... -p4694.htm.

There have been threads on this topic for the Technika and I understand that this will involve drilling the hole. I just want to make sure I have the right fittings to ensure I drill the right size hole.

I found the following parts listed at 1st-line and was interested in getting perspective to confirm this would work:

http://www.1st-line.com/store/pc/ECM-Ge ... 0p7526.htm

http://www.1st-line.com/store/pc/ECM-Ge ... 0p7524.htm

Both of these parts are listed as not available unless you are a 1st line ECM customer which I am not.

I have seen mention of the use of a drain cup and wanted to get a sense if it was also needed.

Thread here: Plumbing a drip tray

If someone has another option or a recommendation on a complete set of fittings that would also be greatly appreciated.

Update: I found this also https://www.chriscoffee.com/Drain-Kit-Alex-p/adrkt.htm but I am not sure how to keep the cup attached to the bottom of the drip tray.

Thanks very much!

Replaced the T1 ? is the Profitec in the Elektra T1 caliber ? Just curious what are your impressions ? besides wishing you luck with the drain .

I have made great espresso with both machines. The T1 is a true commercial grade HX machine capable of running in a commercial setting supporting the volume you would expect in such an environment

The Profitec is a very nice high-end (in terms of quality) prosumer level double boiler machine that works very well in a home setting and is related to the ECM brand.

As can be said with most HX machines you end up using much more water to regulate temps than you would with a DB machine.

For me personally on a daily basis a DB suits my style. I have owned several other machines both DB and HX and for many reason I like the Profitec the best. It suits my current needs and mode of operation best.

Predictability and the ease of use is high, fit and finish are really great, and finally the quality and consistency of what I get in the cup is exceptional.

Check out Dan's review on the main page of the site and a few of the threads on the Profitec 700 for some additional info.
