Dispersion Screen Differences? Really?

In browsing around the slayer website I notice that they used a lever dispersion screen on one of their groups...

has anyone seen this? Will this help on a standard machine? I feel like the dispersion screen on my Faema Due causes underextraction on the center of my puck... as a matter of fact with a naked portafilter it hardly ever combines into one solid stream, though the espresso still tastes great. I have tried every type of method, the yogurt container thing, the twisty hand deal, the swipe, the stab, all of the previously listed ones with no tap and with a tap on the side of the portafilter... I actually feel like an idiot not able to get a good solid stream.

So would a lever dispersion screen help? Anyone know where to get one? Any other advice... I am open to anything

Karl

PS Fresh coffee (5-8 days post roast), pressure is 8.5 bar with everything from 14-18 gram doses in both ridgeless and ridged doubles and even a ridged triple...

Hi Karl,

isn't that a GS/3 group?

I think it uses a different dispersion block/screw and the screen is held by the gasket like on e61 groups. Anyone seen this in person? I'm curious if it has the standard 4-hole dispersion screw behind the screen.

Regards,
dsc.

Hi Tom,

Nope not a GS/3 group.

The GS/3's screen is held in with a special screw which is hollow in the centre, through which the brew water flows and then exits via four radial holes above the screen.

All the Best

Hi guys,

that photo had GS/3 mentioned in the description that's why I thought it's a GS/3 (even though I know that GS/3 have the screw, perhaps it's a newer group?).

Isn't the LM dispersion screw prone to donut water dispersion?

Hi Tom,

Not that I have experienced, and I don't think that LM would use anything that could cause a problem.
Also as far as I know, Slayer make their own group heads, just as Synesso do. Both are similar to the LM's.

So that being said... has anyone else had the sort of doughnut extraction issue from the large section of the screen that is covered by the solid punched steel of the body of the assembly? Has anyone placed a lever screen on a e61 machine previously other than the slayer folks?
