Cimbali jr pump tubing size?

Postby Coffee-Mark on Mon Jul 11, 2011 9:31 pm

My La cimbali has a pinhole leak on the clear tubing/line from the tank to the pump (item number 220-000-015) .. any idea what size tubing it is? inside diameter/outside diameter? ... it figures it would have a problem the day before new espresso cups and a naked/bottomless portafilter arrive.

i probably wont have trouble matching it with line at the local hardware but just in case .. thought i'd ask

Hardware store tubing will work . . . for a while. Your best bet is to simply buy a barbed fitting (plastic or brass) for 1/4" ID tubing and snip/splice. That espresso machine tubing is very flexible, non-kinking silicone (6 mm ID, AFAIK) and tough to obtain other than over the net.

Check out Chris Coffee's site under Isomac Parts. He sells 1/4" x 12" silicon tubing.

thanks for the tips,... as luck would have it when i got to work i looked around and found some 1/4 inch tubing that we stock to repair fetco machines. Im also going to get a 1/4 inch barbed connector or 2 to go into my tool kit at home.

i replaced the tubing ang now my little machine is a good tad quieter! Yay .. woohoo .. oh boy ... it still wakes up the girlfriend though :?

Im guessing that pinhole has been there atleast the last 6 months without me realizing it, it was spraying back into the water reservoir so there was no visible dripping until i was trying to adjust the pressure stat and felt a spray on my arm since the reservoir and tubing were sitting off to the side while i made adjustments. Not sure if i like the lower pstat settings yet, definitely cuts down on the volume of water required for cooling flushes.

woot!
