Broken boiler manometer on used Quickmill Andreja

Postby petrush on Sat Oct 09, 2010 9:17 am

Hi,

I bought a used Andreja recently with some small problems. One is that the boiler manometer is not working, no reaction on pressure change. The machine is 3 years old I think. The tubing to the manometer is quite greenish oxidized on the outside. Is there any experience out there if the gauges break, or if it just could be the tubing. Seems to be quite difficult to reach for changing the gauge, seems like the boiler needs to be completely disassembled?

I would think you need to remove the outer shell to facilitate gage replacement. See these FAQ's:
http://www.chriscoffee.com/faq . The tubing can be removed separately from the gage on these machines and cleaned/checked for obstructions but, more than likely, the gage is "broken."

Thanks for the input, have now ordered both the gauge and connecting tube, better to be able to change both when I start dissassembling. I'm trying to figure out a tool to reach the gauge without removing the boiler... :)

Well I hope you don't think about it too much. I have NOT removed any gages from Andreja but I have from the Anita and that certainly did not involve removing the boiler. The gage(s) come out the front of the machine and are held in place by a u-clamp. The u-clamp, in turn, is held in place by the nut securing the pressure line to the gage. IIRC, a 1/2" or 12 mm wrench does the trick.

Now, yours may be different because the Andreja, like the other QM machines, has undergone lots of improvements from initial production. In that case, some pics of your machine from the front and side may be helpful for future readers of this post.

Thanks for the responses, I finally came to open the machine, and managed to remove the manometer without removing the boiler. A wrench close to the front panel holding the square nut, and another one from top.

It seems like the manometer itself might be broken, it's stuck at 0.5 bar and no movement whatever I do to it.

I'm trying to put some descale in the tubing - are there any other ways to repair an manometer? There is a small screw on the backside, is that calibration?
