Bought used Elektra D1, need manual and advice

Postby stevescapin on Wed Mar 18, 2009 8:55 pm

I just bought a used Elektra D1 (1992) today. It is in working order but it has a few dings and scratches. I paid 250$ (can) for it. The seller is a distributor of superautomatic machines and he got the Elektra from a restaurant owner who went out of business. He was more than happy to get some money for the machine.

Before using the machine, I want to check for scale and potential problems. I was wondering if anyone has a service manual that could help me take it apart. Are there elements that I should check with greater scrutiny? It is my first foray into the realm of used, somewhat vintage, machines. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

I asked Elektra in Italy (via the web site) and got a manual and CD for the latest version. I don't think they have the older ones in stock.

There are 4 possible choices, I'm guessing sixties or modern.

The sixties manual should be close enough for you. Check Stefano's website. My latest vintage Elektra has the same steam wand/valve as yours.

Hi everyone, this is my first post on Home barista, I am a espresso machine Maniac, loved them, dream about them, almost ... with them. I have also bought a Elektra D1 from the same person stevescapin did. Mine is also a 1992 two group, but quite a strange two group, one group is automatic and the other is semi-automatic. Someone removed one of the touch pad and has replaced it with a push button. Which means that most of the wiring has been re-arranged. I think that it is the same group head as the T1, which some say is one of the best machine. I also have a Astra Gourmet G.A. which so far is the best machine I have ever used, beside the commercial Rancilio z9 lever. I bought the machine to see if Elektra could stand against Astra. But before I do so, I will clean the monster completely as I do everytime I buy a machine. And I would like to change the push button, and put back a touch pad. Does anybody has the electrical diagram so that I could figure this electrical mess?
thank you

Try e-mailing Elektra. Or contact Stefano at EspressoCare, he seems to be known and admired by every manufacturer in Italy. :D
