I wish I could tie into the system just before the membrane, but it's all one compete plastic case :(. For now I will just add tap water to the RO water to try and get it to 50ppm with the test kit

Update, few days of mixing tap and RO water mushroom looks nice and clean still, so it was RO water that was leeching stuff out of the copper....
I got one of those pen type TDS meters (really cheap on craigslist) and will try to figure out a way to mix RO with filtered water or mineral water that wont be a pain in the ass.. What PPM should i aim for so that it doesn't mess up my machine, coffee tastes great, and descaling is kept to a minimum?
