Bezzera BZ02DE help with initial setup

Postby yardkat on Thu Mar 24, 2011 5:42 pm

Hello everyone,
I just purchased a Bezzera BZ02DE from 1st Line. It just arrived today, and I'm really new at this so please forgive me if I'm asking a really stupid question.
So I unboxed the machine, filled the water tank, and turned the machine on. All that happens is a really loud obnoxious buzzing sound. No water appears to be leaving the water tank...it's just buzzing really loudly.
What am I doing wrong? This really isn't helping my buyer's remorse!
Thanks!
Julie

Sometimes, an air pocket develops in the pump or a wire becomes loose in shipping. In this case, it sounds like an air pocket as it makes a loud sound. If it was a hum or no sound, then a wire probably came loose.

Please let machine cool down for 4 hours. Upon depressing the power switch, quickly elevate and lower the reservoir 1" up and down repeatedly until you hear a different noise. Do not perform for more than a minute. If this does not work, please email us your invoice number and phone number so we can call you to resolve. You will also need a turkey baster with water so the air pocket can be forced out.

Thank you. Right before you posted I dug through my "junk" kitchen drawer to find the turkey baster. I'll leave it for tonight and see in the morning.
Thanks!

You will also need an allen key to remove the top cover.

For those who are wondering about this talk of turkey basters, see New espresso machine boiler will not fill.

I guess it's a little early to ask how you like the Bezzera? I hope the turkey baster works!

Yeah, too early. :(
It's sitting on my counter in pieces. I'm pretty sure it's taunting me.
