Astoria Argenta SAE 2 Power Problem

Postby doughboy0901 on Tue Jan 24, 2012 12:43 pm

Hey guys,

I just finished putting back together an Astoria Argenta sae 2 120v 1995 - 1997 i think, its the one with the funky paint job. When I turned it on the first time, I got heat and pump power but the breaker tripped after a minute or two. When i tried it again i only get power to the heating element, no pump and no switches. I visually checked all wiring and fuses in control box and around machine and all seemed ok. Any ideas? Where should i start to diagnose power to and from the pump and control box?

Possible you have blown the brains - but not likely. If this machine has the 2 position switch you could have a problem there (in position 1 it does all the things you are now missing & position 2 adds the heating to that) If you can check for live voltage on the input of the PCB (Brains) and it isn't there then the switch is likely where your problem lies. If the voltage is there then there is a fuse on the board that could have blown. So switch problem?

If it is not the switch then it is going to be 1 of a number of things - the best diagnosis is to disconnect them all except 1 (pump motor, inlet (fill) solenoid, group solenoid(s)) - replace the part that causes re-occurance when connected. One final thing that could cause this is the pump capacitor - On the pump motor itself if external, in the rear corner on the opposite side to the pump if internal motor.

Good luck
