Are there any advantages/disadvantages to different preinfusion pressures?

From the owners manual on my La Spaziale Dream (plumbed in), it appears as if the pre-infusion pressure = inlet pressure.
My normal inlet pressure seems to run around 6 bar. From searching around the forums here, most seem to recommend setting the inlet pressure regulator to 2 bar or less, at least for E61 machines.
Is there any advantage or disadvantage to trying different inlet pressure settings, or should I just set it to 2 bar and forget about it?

I'm not an expert on this, but I think you could damage the pump seals.Mike_ wrote:My normal inlet pressure seems to run around 6 bar. --- should I just set it to 2 bar and forget about it?

Not for you, no, best set to approx 2 bar and forget about it. The problem with the higher pressures is it compromises your pumps ability to use the bypass to regulate pressure.Mike_ wrote:Is there any advantage or disadvantage to trying different inlet pressure settings, or should I just set it to 2 bar and forget about it?
