Two Fun Single Origin Espressos

Postby another_jim on Mon Jul 11, 2011 2:20 pm

Klatch Coffee's Colombia Popoyan. Cherry Coke

S&M's Kenya Kirinyaga AA Kiunyu. Christmas cake: molasses, clove and dried berries.

Medium dose; lowish temp for both. Home roasters should do light roasts with some extra time to the first crack, and ended fast before first pops of the second, use 4 to 8 days out (I'm serious about the roast, these coffees lose too much sweetness if you take them into the usual espresso zone).

Smiles guaranteed.

You don't know about the sweet agonies of home roasting?

I guess that's one typo I can't edit now.

You sank my battleship! This is my secret summer weapon for iced coffee. Roasted to City+, brewed at 90g/L in a siphon, then poured over ice for super sweet and fruity lemonade hit.
Your dog wants espresso.

Goodness! I tasted my first of this Kenya this morning and man alive it's good! City+, medium temp, 14g dose, 1oz shot. Sooo sweet and pleasantly bright. It will take my amateur palate a couple more tastes to really define the flavors I found. I am excited about this one though. Coming up next in my rotation is an Ethiopia Guji Suke Quto and a Harrar, but I will definitely be coming back to the Kenya soon. Great summer espresso.
