Clive·Coffee: Great coffee at home

Stew Leonards!

Postby wecksell on Mon Sep 05, 2011 8:36 pm

After years of shopping there, I just noticed that Stew Leonards, an awesome supermarket chain in the NYC / Southern CT region, roasts their own beans in the store.

Does anyone have any experience with their coffee? Good? Bad? Mediocre but great value?

They are $8 a pound, but have similar "too good to be true" pricing on awesome meat, fish, etc. What gave me pause what the guy at the roasting machine who told me that all of the beans for sale were roasted "today". Somehow, I don't think their customers are all going home and making carbonated coffee.

At that price, I'll pick up a pound next time I'm shopping there, but was hoping someone else already had experience with their product.
