Seattle Roaster?

Postby Yeti on Wed Sep 07, 2011 10:35 am

I'm looking for the name (or link to the story) of a Seattle coffee roaster, which I think is around Pike Place or Pioneer Square (Good Coffee Co?). There was an article on him if I remember correctly which I thought was posted here, but I haven't found it.

Seems it was an old-school guy, been roasting for years, not a lot of fanfare, but a decent roast. No real storefront, just his roastery...?

Early senility, or have I read this here or somewhere else?

Any insight would be appreciated.

There have been a couple of articles. I think this http://www.seattleweekly.com/bestof/2008/award/best-longtime-underground-coffee-roaster-477048/ may be what you are looking for.

Bingo - Thanks Hal.

My wife is in Seattle this week, I'm putting together a sample list of coffees to bring back - do you have any comments regarding their roasts? Worth trying ?

Thanks

Very "old school." Dark with a sheen, but not burnt. Worth a try ground fine and brewed at lower temps (around 195 or so).

Oh my goodness -

Don't know if its too late - just saw your post - but my counsel would be to have her track down and buy the following - Any of the blends from Middle Fork Roasters, some Caffe D'Arte Capri or Firenze, and some Vivace.
