Their shipping is quite fast, at least between their location and mine, so I generally get it 3 days or so after roast, while it's still outgassing. I like it at about 195F, 17g in, 30g out.

Oh, and as Jeff used to, they still throw a few candies in the package (I get it 5 lbs at a time, and free shipping). :)

BTW, I've tried post-Jeff Blue Jaguar and a couple of their SOs, and they're exemplary as well. All in all, still perhaps the best value available in well-crafted coffees.
195.. whoa, haven't had it in awhile but never pulled it that low of a temp. Did something change?

Bought 5lbs of Wote Konga, one of my faves from Redbird, earlier this year when the transformation to the new owners was happening. It was off the mark compared to all the WK I had previously purchased from them. So whether it was the passing of the baton or just an anomaly I'll never know. But I went back for a couple pounds this last September and it was back on mark. I prefer their SOs to their blends but that's just a personal taste thing.

I concur with other's comments: Redbird is, all things considered, a bargain. And they're still pushing out full pounds.

Kurt: I've not tried Blue Jaguar. I am interested in the fact that you use it more regularly than RBE, although you still order RBE on occasion. How are they different in flavor?

I guess I could order a pound next time with my 5lb order of RBE and try it, but I am interested in hearing from someone who has experienced both and has discerned the difference.

Thanks.

I'm using an HX machine so it's an inexact science. But I pull it slightly cooler than the Lionshare I've been drinking lately, since the RB is roasted a bit lighter. RB is so forgiving, anyway, that I suspect it has the widest usable temperature band of any blend I've had.
