No Ethiopian Nekisse this Year

Postby another_jim on Tue Jul 05, 2011 10:46 pm

The Ethiopian Nekisse, my favorite coffee from last year, has been stolen in Ethiopia and is now off the legitimate market. The Green Bean Coop won't get theirs, and I doubt the private sale arranged here will work out either.

Well, that blows. I was down for 5 pounds of green. It will probably end up as an additive in Folgers. That is happening more and probably will continue to increase over the next few years as specialty coffee prices continue to climb.

Someone at the gcc postulated that a higher bidder may have come in and the theft was a front. With the current value of coffee skyrocketing, it makes you think...

The Hachira was also stolen. Big bummer on both of those coffees. 90+ has a few more coming in this year. The Tchembe should be hitting port any day.
