The New Caffe Fresco

Postby Bluegrod on Tue Apr 14, 2009 5:46 pm

I am writting this in response to the re-opening of Caffe Fresco. I have read many posts concerning the ambrosia coffee and have been waiting to finally taste what everyone was talking about and am pleased to say I was not let down. I ordered a bag of ambrosia and a bad of the daterra and was blown away how good these two coffees were. I am so pleased with tonys beans that I am cancelling my standing orders with my two other roasters and am planning to use Caffe Fresco exclusivley as my roaster of choice. If anyone out there was planning on trying this coffee do so and do so fast because you will be amazed at how good this coffee is. I would love to see what other peoples opinion of these roasts are so please anyone with any experience with these coffees please post a repy. Way to go tony keep up the awesome work.

I have been ordering from CF since the re-opening and am very happy with the roasts. CF is now part of my regular ordering cycle. I am partial to the Bello Blend and Ethiopian Brown Brindle. Great stuff!

CF Bello has nice, but not overpowering, citrus notes and finishes with mild chocolate. I like it because the flavors present themselves in layers (layered flavor profile, ala Stumptown Hairbender), in contrast to blends with more monolithic flavor profiles. As for the Ethiopian Brown Brindle: an ideal Ethiopian 'blend' that preserves the fruit and wine flavors and ends with that rustic nut and spice taste. The EBB replaces SM Moka Kadir in my lineup (since roasted MK is no longer available). I've tried quite a few other Ethiopian SO offerings in recent weeks, but none nearly as good as EBB.

I think it's really important to follow CFs roast maturation guidelines. My CF arrives 2 days (sometimes 1) after being roasted and posted and is always best after a week's worth of resting.

That looks like an excellent deal for excellent coffee. You can also get 3 12oz bags for $29!

I got my 2 bags of coffee last week. Got one ambrosia, and a new one i hadn't tried, Flossie's.

flossie's is GREAT! I don't often taste all those things others can taste, but i can say that Flossie's is a great espresso blend, very mellow, not a lot of brightness (just enough for it to be interesting), and rather sweet. It competes with Ambrosia in goodness.

I've brewed it all over the map, and it seems very robust as far as the process is concerned. Right now i'm at 16g, 201 deg., 30 second brew, 1.75 oz.

Absolutely agreed. Caffe Fresco is a regular stop for me. I respect Tony' commitment to quality service and knowledge of how to coax the best out of a bean. Ambrosia is my standby but I've been through most of the list over time.

Yo Tony, got the package of Ambrosia and Costa Rican earlier today. It's double packed up and in the freezer while I enjoy some of the other 'alternative' espressos I've been drinking while you were in sabbatical/hiatus/re-doing your store and coffee operation.

You the man when it comes to great coffees and I'm truly waiting to tap into each bag, probably in another ten days or so.

I have no worries about the either the quality or the consistency of your roasts. They've always been top shelf for me.

Good luck on the expansion of your business!

I just got some ethiopian brown brindles. Can anyone point me towards good brew parameters?
i've tried my regular 16g, 201 deg., 1.5 oz., 30 seconds. It's good, very potent..wondering where others were brewing it.

thanks
