Los Gemelos microlot at Counter Culture

Postby TrlstanC on Sun Aug 29, 2010 2:54 pm

Does anyone else have (or tried) the Los Gemelos microlot that Counter Culture had on their site?

It didn't take too many tries to get a good shot. I've been pulling it with 15.5 grams for about 1.75oz in 22 seconds or so. The shots have been very clear and full of floral notes (my fiance says it taste like what flowers smell like), not too fruity or any strong roast flavors, and no real discernible off flavors. A great cup all around.

I didn't want to waste too much of the beans I have exploring different doses, but if anyone else has found some good shots with different parameters I'm guessing there are some different flavors to be had.

Update: As the coffee has aged (it's about a week post roast today) I've been increasing the dose, this morning I pulled the shots with about 16g, and got normal flow (4 days ago this would've been slow drips ending in a 30-35 sec shot) and the heavier fruit flavors have shown up to dominate the cup. I usually really like this kind of clean fruity shot, but honestly I miss the floral flavors that have been pushed in to the background. Fortunately I've got some of the beans in the freezer from when they first showed up, I'm hoping to break those out this weekend and get a couple good days out of them :)
