Great List, and we are honored to be among some great roasters. I've been lucky enough to try all (US roasters anyways) at shows or events, and enjoyed many. Funny thing is, the only one I've never tried is in my own backyard.

Social Coffee Company, Richmond Hill, ON
Detour Coffee Roasters, Dundas, ON
Fratello Coffee Roasters, Calgary, AB

Just this week, my wife brought me a bag of Heartbreaker Espresso from Cafe Grumpy in NYC (http://www.cafegrumpy.com). Delicious, and I would add them to the list.

Three Northwest roasters whose shots have made me say "This may be the most delicious shot I ever drank:"
Spella Caffe, Portland (a recent arrival, still very small)
Caffe D'Arte, Seattle
Stumptown, Portland, specifically the Hairbender blend, since on the whole I think Stumptown is not an espresso-oriented roaster, but one focused on light roasts, French press, varietals, plantations.
The Canadian Rockies roaster Kicking Horse also deserves a mention. And good old Peet's is definitely still up there near the top.

Fantastic list! Thanks!
I'd definitely add Atomic Cafe Roasters http://www.shopatomicafe.com to the list (already mentioned in this thread). I had some nice shots with their Cosmopolitan Espresso.
Also, "The Brown Coffee Company" http://www.shop.browncoffeeco.com has some great roasts. I tried them on my GS/3 MP, after finding their coffee being brewed at the RBC NYC (Slayer Espresso Machine!).

Amen to this. Aaron Blanco, the sole owner and employee (unless you count the other members of his family, heh) of Brown Coffee is a stand-up guy who's extremely passionate about great coffee and produces some very wonderful coffee roasts. I've always enjoyed his affinity for and skill at roasting east African coffees (Ethiopians and Kenyans). Touring his shop is some guaranteed fun in San Antonio, TX if you're in the area, and there's no doubt in my mind that he belongs on that list given how internet-order friendly he is. He pulls a great espresso at his shop and he always seems to have a good number of espresso blends in his rotation-keeps things interesting. A must-try, IMO, if you live in the South Central region and want to support the development of quality roasters/shops in the region, and a pretty darn good bet regardless.wogaut wrote:Also, "The Brown Coffee Company" http://www.shop.browncoffeeco.com has some great roasts.

One roaster in france is pretty much above the average production in terms of choice, freshness, dedication and roast quality.
This is Caffè Cataldi.
Others can compare, but Stéphane always produces good batch and has gained a solid reputation among espresso fans in France. He is known under MKSwing in forums in Europe.

Hello all, I would add Shenandoah Joe in Charlottesville, Virginia. Their Long Frog Espresso is complex, with a mix of berry fruit and cocoa and excellent crema. The Dark Horse and Old World blends are also favorites in my house. They also have many SO coffees that are great as espresso or Vac-pot/pourover coffee. I will be sad to leave them behind when I move out of town next year.
Cheers,
Colin
