Jones Roasters in Pasadena, CA?

Postby GVDub on Wed Mar 25, 2009 12:34 pm

Going to a cupping class at Jones Roasters in Pasadena tonight (because I never heard back from Rocky Rhodes at Rocky Roaster about his cupping classes). I've never tried any of their coffee before. Does anybody here know their coffee and is there anything they do that's particularly good?

Hey George...

I took their Home Barista class two weeks ago and really enjoyed it....Only tried one of their beans, their JC espresso blend...It was a very nice balanced blend....I am going to the same cupping class tonight, so I will see you there! They are a great outfit, Chuck the owner, is a great guy, he's very into talking about and sharing info on coffee, and it's a nice Cafe too, if you are ever in the Pasadena area!

I hope after the class we both know more about coffee, and their blends in particular!

Looking forward to meeting you there. I'm all out of white carnations, but I'm sure we'll make do.

Chuck Jones and Raphael, from Jones Coffee, were in a Boot Coffee advanced coffee roasting class with me a couple of years back. Chuck is a very funny guy, you'll have a blast.

Tell Chuck and Raphael, I said hi.

My wife and I both had a blast and quite an education. We met Kirk (Thatchmo) there and got some basic cupping experience. Chuck's planning on doing intermediate and advanced classes as well, plus some other 'Coffee University' type things, so I'm sure we'll be going back. The JC Espresso blend I brought home with me is real tasty (and was a nice touchstone to check my home roasts against). The next time we're back over there, I'll tell Chuck and Rafi you said hi.
